Objectives: • Understand and support OneNOAA vision and avenues for regional influence. • Promote communication and integration of NOAA partners (inside and outside) and activities in the region – BUILD A TEAM!! • Improve products, services, and public access. “Collaboration and partnerships are no longer lofty goals.   4. 2004-2005 Annual Meetings 2004 Wilmington, 26 participants: Overview of NOAA PPBES process; partnership project reports; identify new partnerships and outreach mechanisms 2005, NCDC, Asheville, NC, 37 participants: Plenary on OneNOAA by Vice Admiral’s Chief of Staff; partnership project reports; define ideal OneNOAA project; identify new partnerships Both meetings heavily led and organized by Jack Thigpen and Katie Mosher, NC Sea Grant

Coastal Inland FLood Observation and Warning Project (CIFLOW)

  7. 2007 Annual Meeting – Charleston, SC • Understand and support OneNOAA vision and avenues for regional influence: • Introduction to NOAA regionalization and the Southeast and Caribbean Regional Team (SECART) • Then known as the South Atlantic Regional Team (SART) • Provide input into direction of regionalization, feedback on challenges and opportunities • Improve products/services: • Beginning phases of support for CIFLOW (understand, enhance, promote, suggestions for use) Coastal Services Center, Charleston, SC

A Year’s Accomplishments • SECART Work Plan • Breakout sessions from Charleston meeting resulted in significant contributions in formulation of the work plan • 8 of 13 items in SECART workplan enhanced or developed in part from meeting breakouts • Summary distributed to NinC mailing list • CIFLOW • Hydro model calibration • Precipitation data archive to improve precipitation estimates • Sea breeze research and Weather Research Forecasting (WRF) model application • Sea Grant Extension Agent hiring X 2 • September visits to Carolinas and D.C. to discuss updates, operational aspects, and outreach and extension opportunities • Selection of OU graduate student to support Sea Grant Extension Specialist

Sea Grant Will Continue to Make a Difference! • CIFLOW • Development of outreach, education, and customer-driven products • NOAA Regionalization • Active participation as members (preferred) or as key participants in working groups • NOAA in the Carolinas • Development of an ecosystem/climate connected initiative focused on the SA-LME • Maintaining momentum • Focused future meetings reaching out more to state agencies and academia
