  2. Established May 2008. Became effective & operational 2009 Initiator & founder HH. SheikhaJawaher, Consort of HH Amir of Qatar. Founder donated $1 million Based at FEC, Doha. Historical Background of (HF)

  3. Reviving & promoting traditional Hima System based on Islamic values & ethics. Focusing on protecting Endangered Birds within IBAs & their habitats in 12 eligible countries (6 GCC countries + 6 ME (Jordan, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Iraq & Palestine). Uniqueness of HF

  4. Aim: Restoring role of Islam in Nature Conservation. Vision: Conserving IBAs & Cultural features for sustaining environmental conservation. HF Aim/ Vision/ Objectives

  5. Objectives: Promoting Hima community-based practices, roles & values. Linking conservation with livelihoods. Promoting above, through eco-tourism & rural development. Strengthening local capacities of partners for action. Increasing awareness & education focusing on future generations.

  6. Sponsoring protection of 3 endangered birds in 4 countries (Jordan, Lebanon, Oman & Qatar) costing $150,000. Updating & assessing status & threats facing 25 IBAs in 8 countries by Nature Iraq, costing $ 30,000. HF Major Achievements

  7. Financially assisting Birdlife International in organizing its World Bird Conference in Canada (June 2013), including participation of 10 delegates from ME (costing $76,000). Financially assisting IUCN organizing this Hima Forum, including participation of some delegates from ME (costing $ 10,000)

  8. Formulating a Fund Raising Strategy (FRS) in collaboration with IUCN & Birdlife. Implementing a FRS focusing on private sector & Environmental VIPs. Allocating enough inputs & increasing fund resources through mobilizing HF Partners & supporters in the Region. Expanding & Scaling-up HF Role depends on:
