  1. Recycling Water in Schools Narrated by: Isabella (Age 6)

  2. The three R’s of recycling are: • Reduce – what you buy and use so you have less to throw away. • Reuse – use the same things as often as you can. • Recycle – find lots of new ways to use old things. • Every drop of water counts! Introduction

  3. Turn off tap after washing your hands. • Use signs near taps to tell others how to use them correctly. • Wash paint brushes in an empty container of water instead of under a running tap. • Report any leaking taps around the school to a teacher. • Bathurst Regional Council • http://www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au/environment/waterwise-bathurst.html Use of taps

  4. Water only when needed. • Follow water restrictions to water gardens and lawns. • Plant native plants. • Use a watering can where possible. • Keep pools covered. • Do not water the school ground during the heat of the day – instead do it in the morning or evening. • Waterwise Checklist: Schools and Education Facilities – • Water Corporation http://www.watercorporation.com.au/_files/waterwise/ww_business/WBC_Schools_Education_Facilities_checklist.pdf Water use on school grounds

  5. Wash fruit and vegetables in a container or half filled sink instead of under running water. • Only use the dishwasher when full. • Only use running water for a final rinse – NOT to clean. • Use a sink drainer to stop food scraps from going down the drain and needing a plumber to fix. • Dry brush and spot clean the floors as often as you can. Water use in the canteen

  6. Become a water wise school and make every drop count! Conclusion
