  2. Essential QuestionAnticipatory Set • How would you define effective instructional practices in a student centered lesson? • Please take one minute to write down your thoughts. 

  3. Objective Our Learning Goal: I can identify and describe the four categories of the Essential Elements of Instruction. Our Aim (“Take Away” Goal):How can an administrator use the Essential Elements of Instruction to evaluate lesson effectiveness?

  4. Four Categories of EEI Select Objectives at the Correct Level of Difficulty Teach to the Objective Use Psycho- Neural Principles of Learning Monitor Learners and Adjust Teaching

  5. Jigsaw Activity • Divide into four groups. • Spend two minutes independently reading an overview of your SINGLE assigned category. While reading, please keep the following questions in mind: • How would you define this element and what is its purpose (i.e. why and when would you use it)? • How do you think this element could positively impact student learning? What examples might you see in the classroom?

  6. Group Work & Poster • In your groups, assign PLC roles to members. • Keeping your roles in mind, please create a poster addressing the guiding questions: • How would you define this element and what is its purpose (i.e. why and when would you use it)? • How do you think this element could positively impact student learning? What examples might you see in the classroom? • When you’re finished, hang your poster in the front of the room.

  7. Closure Take a moment to review the posters around the room. As you’re looking at the posters of the Essential Elements, refer back to your Quickwrite. Underline any “matches” that you find between your description of effective instruction and those present on the posters.

  8.
