  2. What is WestwoodCentre? Mission Statement Westwood Centre is dedicated to the personal development of all its students. This is based on developing social and interpersonal skills through experiential learning activities. Our aim is to raise levels of achievement, skills and aspirations. Your Day Registration : Morning registration between 8.30 – 9.00 Mon, Tues, Thurs 10.00 – 10.15 Wed & Fri Afternoon registration between 12.50 – 1.00 Mon, Tues, Thurs 12.20-1.00 Wed & Fri Lessons: Lessons last 60 minutes. There is a 5minute break in between each lesson. There are 5 lessons a day. The last lesson of the day finishes at 3pm. Lunch: Lunch is 40 minutes, you may stay at the Centre OR you may sign out to leave the premises and return at 12.50pm. Staff: All the staff at the Centre are very approachable. If a pupil ever has a problem one of the staff will endeavour to offer as much support as possible. Each group is assigned a form tutor to assist with any major problems in or outside school and we have a school counsellor available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Rules 3 Warning System • At the Centre we have a 3 warning system • When a pupil reaches their third warning, he/she could be sent home at the tutor’s discretion • A pupil can be issued all 3 warnings at once, depending on the severity of the pupils actions Warnings may be given for: • Excessive Swearing • Bullying • Non – Compliance • Vandalism • Aggressive behaviour • Etc... Smoking Policy Smoking is not allowed on the premises or anytime between 8.45am to 3.00pm. Uniform There is no specific uniform at the project, so any casual attire can be worn within reason.

If your pupil is off school for a longer period of time a doctor’s certificate will be required. It is necessary, therefore, to establish if your son/daughter/ward has any specific dietary requirements or allergies. We appreciate the some parents/carers may wish to provide this information themselves and that some children may prefer these issues to be covered in the privacy of their own home. Parental Consent Form Westwood Centre Outdoor Activities As part of the Westwood Centre program, various outdoor activities (for example undertaking sport/team building activities, visits and projects) have been organised. These outdoor activities will be well supervised by Westwood Centre staff. The students need to bring a packed lunch and drinks, sensible footwear for walking and/or waterproof clothing. Guidelines • Must respect as individuals, staff and students and property. • Keep hands and feet to themselves • No Alcohol or Drugs or Energy drinks • Must abide by health and safety policies • Dress appropriately • Time keeping is essential • No smoking • No bullying • Everyone has the right to work and learn • No mobile phones or MP3 players in lesson time • Cannot leave site unsupervised • Keep to areas agreed (keep away from out of bounds areas)

Minibus Rules Whilst in the minibus you must obey the following rules.......... • No eating or drinking inside the bus • Seatbelt must be on at all times • Do not throw any items out of the windows • Do not distract the driver at any time • Do not sit at the back of the minibus without a teacher • Keep arms and legs inside the minibus • Do not disturb other people on the bus • Do not shout out of the bus • Do not smoke near the mini bus or inside the mini bus • Do not vandalise the minibus in any form, any damage proven to be caused by a pupil will be paid for by the pupils parents/guardians • If a pupil misbehaves on an outside activity, and the pupil is not allowed back on the mini bus for health and safety reasons, the parent/guardians will be responsible for picking the pupil up from the location.
