  1. Actions 2003 • Data call re Water Programs: • Send out water program tables and summary trend line graphs to all ACWI reps • Work with other water-related Fed’l. agencies to expand data set • Work with OMB to review and refine data set and analysis • Action: USGS – Johnson

Actions 2003 Actions re 2004 Review of USGS Cooperative Water Program: • Agreed to conduct review of implementation of COOP recommendations to start January 2004. • Formed ACWI Steering Committee: • Plan review, develop Terms of Reference, and recommend member organizations • 5 Volunteers: NGWA, AWWA, AASG, ASIWPCA, WSWC) • Sunset after completion of planning process • Action: Above ACWI Reps

  4. Actions 2003 Actions re 2004 Review of USGS Cooperative Water Program: • Send out via email to ACWI reps on Steering Committee: • Report of previous COOP Review • Secretary’s Letter on Implementation • Suggested outline of process • Action: USGS - Peters

  5. Actions 2003 Actions re Subcommittee on Sediment: • Agreed to accept SOS as subgroup under ACWI. • Approved Terms of Reference for SOS with no dissension. • Provide expressions of interest in the SOS to: gglysson@usgs.gov or Fax to 703-648-5644 • Action: All ACWI Reps

Actions 2003 Actions re Streamgaging Task Force • Approved Task Force Report as written with no dissent. • Letter to be prepared for Secretary of Interior, (co-signed by USGS & Stiles as nonFed co-chair): • Endorse Task Force Report • Highlight key recommendations • Encourage OFA’s to continue support of the streamgaging network • Request letter to be sent to other Feds • Action: USGS – Johnson w/Yorke and Stiles (TF Chairs)

Actions 2003 Actions re Streamgaging Task Force: • All ACWI Federal Agencies encouraged to continue their support for the Streamgaging network. • All ACWI non-Federal member organizations encouraged to recommend to other Feds to continue funding for their stations in the network. • Action: USGS – Johnson and All ACWI member organizations.

Actions 2003 Actions re Methods Board: • Letters being prepared, asking ACWI Federal agencies to implement approved recommendations, including: • Nat’l.Environmental Methods Index • Laboratory Accreditation • Copies will be sent to ACWI members Action: EPA – Brass, Johnson and All ACWI member organizations.

Actions 2003 Actions re Methods Board: • Report on Chemical Oxygen Demand, to be published in the Council’s Technical Report Series, to be sent out to ACWI member organizations for review & comment by email: • Copies distributed at meeting • Will forward electronically by Sept. 15 • Comments due by COB Oct 15, 2003 Action: EPA – Brass; All ACWI member organizations.

Actions 2003 Actions re Sustainable Water Resources Roundtable (SWRR): • Revised Terms of Reference approved, with two clarifications: • Item III.D. re Role of Co-Chairs re Budget & revised consistent with FACA • Item III.A. re Participation, add “local” to agencies and clarify “individuals.” • Action: Smith w/Johnson • Revised Terms to be posted on ACWI Web site.

Actions 2003 Actions re Ad Hoc TMDL Conference: • Sunset ACWI Ad Hoc Subcommittee on TMDL Science and Policy Conference. • ACWI Member organizations encouraged to continue to support the annual TMDL Science Conference, co-chaired by WEF and ASIWPCA. • Conference will likely be continued as WEF biennial Technical Conference • Action: USGS – Johnson w/WEF - O’Neill.

Actions 2003 Actions re Spatial Water Data Com: • Geospatial One-Stop’s Geodata.gov web site • What ACWI role re populating data layers? • Members’ concerned re water security and web server vulnerability. • SSWD to provide further information to ACWI member organizations regarding underlying philosophy, and access layers. • Action:USGS-Pierce • Interested members: All, esp. AWWA, WEF, AMWA, ACC, WSWC.

Actions 2003 Recommendations of the 2002 AWRA Water Resources Policy Dialog: • Individual Member Organizations of ACWI are encouraged to write letters in support of the importance and need for continued Water Policy Dialogs: • To AWRA [Attn: Dick Engberg, AWRA, 4 W. Actions 2003 Next Meeting: • ACWI is now a Presidential Committee (renewable every 2 yrs, as long as OMB Memo M-92-01 remains valid) • Membership approved for 4-year term thru Aug 2007 • Feds request key actions and key issues Day 1 following roundtable, even if return to more detailed subgroup presentations.

  21. Actions 2003 Next Meeting: • Cannot return to April ‘04, due to National Monitoring Conference in May ‘04 (major ACWI sponsorship). • Consider one-day focused/intensive meeting in Feb/Mar ‘04 • Propose ACWI 2004 Annual meeting in Sept ‘04
