Newton’s Laws of Motion
Law of Conservation of Energy
+ = • Behavior Management • Classroom Consolidation • Teacher Mobility • Global Access
Special education • AIM program – the entire program is an accommodation! • Small groups, preferential seating, shortened assignments, tutoring assistance, cooling-off periods, positive reinforcers, time for repeated review or drill, etc.
Carrie Cummings ALA
ALA Program • Pearland’s DAEP • Placement is 30 days • Based on daily earned credit • Grade level classrooms • Core teachers rotate • Students remain in their seat all day, only leaving their seat for: • designated restroom breaks • Lunch • PE
Point Sheets • 60 to 70 points per day for credit • Incentives for good behavior: • 10 consecutive days of earned credit allows the student to eat lunch in the cafeteria, instead of in the classroom • A perfect point sheet earns the privilege of PE after 6th period each day • When a student wants to misbehave, a gentle reminder about keeping the privilege of PE or lunch is usually enough!
Behavior Specialist • Classroom Observations • Analysis of Observations • Program Recommendations • Staff implemented recommendations: • maintaining consistency with point sheet expectations • refusing to engage students in debate by “speak and spin” • creating a supportive yet firm classroom management approach
