A lot of people think that fats are bad for their pet’s health; however, some amount of fat is considered as a vital element to their good health. Fats help produce over twice the amount of energy compared to protein and carbohydrate. It is said that all fats are made of fatty acids. Fatty acids are considered as building blocks of different types of fats. As your dog’s body cannot synthesize the essential fatty acids so it should be a part of their daily diet.

  2. A lot of people think that fats are bad for their pet’s health; however, some amount of fat is considered as a vital element to their good health. Fats help produce over twice the amount of energy compared to protein and carbohydrate. It is said that all fats are made of fatty acids. Fatty acids are considered as building blocks of different types of fats. As your dog’s body cannot synthesize the essential fatty acids so it should be a part of their daily diet. Essential fatty acids promote healthy skin and coat and are said to play an important role in cell membranes, immune system, and circulatory system. These essential fatty acids include Omega-3 and Omega-6. Omega-3 is found in both plant and fish so it is important to consume from both the sources to obtain a good balance. Now, Omega-6 is found in most plant and animal fats and oils including chicken fat and canola oil.

  3. Fats play a vital role in providing the energy which is essential to keep your pet active. Dogs do need an adequate amount of fat to have the energy they need to play and run. These fats work as a potent fuel for their body. They are also necessary for immune system which helps in proper functioning of all the cells of the body, which helps them to fight off diseases, pathogens and are also good for dog gut health. Lastly, from your pet’s perspective, fats make their food taste better. But too much dietary fat without enough exercise can be harmful to your pet’s shapely waistline.
