    • Adult English language learners (ELLs) need English and specific skills to get jobs.
    • Our nation needs more skilled workers with one to two years of college - 21st Century Plan
  • How can we do it?
    • Infuse career specific vocabulary into English language teaching - teach contextually
    • Create a rigorous & relevant curriculum – critical thinking and higher order thinking skills
  • Can we do it?
    • Yes, we can!!

education population in the State of

Florida.

Career Pathways:

  • connects students with the real world.
  • engages and retains students in the classroom.
  • develops workforce readiness skills with academic achievement.
  • Bridges the gap between ESOL and career/education advancement

How can we do it?
  • Intake – assess students’ needs and goals.
  • Counseling/facilitation – help students develop and track their career/education plan.
  • Inform students on community resources, jobs, and scholarships.
  • Teach students employability competencies, 21st Century Skills as well as academic skills.
  • Establish partnerships.
  • Track your students’ success.
