  3. Engineering Requirements Systems Engineering is an interdisciplinary approach encompassing the entire technical effort to evolve and verify an integrated and total Lifecycle balanced set of system, people, and process solutions that satisfy customer needs. Systems engineering is the integrating mechanism across the technical efforts related to the development, manufacturing, verification, deployment, operations, sustainment, disposal of, and user training for systems and their life cycle processes. Product Integration is an interdisciplinary approach encompassing the entire technical effort to support the design and build aspects of materiel acquisition. This discipline involves: Using computer aided engineering tools to design or improve designs and to maximize efficiency and accuracy of designs; Using various methods and tools to produce rapid prototypes of designs that meet the specific needs of the project; and Using Manufacturing processes and tools to produce limited quantities of products or piece parts that meet the specifications of the design. Product Assessment is an interdisciplinary approach encompassing the entire technical effort to support the engineering test and assessment related to materiel acquisition. This testing includes: Environmental, field, protection fit, and surety testing. The environmental testing covers all tests required by MIL-STD-810 as well as packaging validation tests required in MIL-STD-2073-1.

  4. Engineering Requirements (continued) Acquisition Logistics is an interdisciplinary approach encompassing the entire technical effort to develop test and field a support system that will ensure the weapon system will meet its readiness objectives when fielded to the warfighter. The logistics program is conducted in accordance with AR700-127 and addresses the following elements of the acquisition process: Maintenance Plan, Manpower and Personnel, Supply Support, Support Equipment, Technical Data, Training, Computer Support, Support Facilities, Packaging Handling Storage & Transportation, and logistics influence on System Design Product Engineering is an interdisciplinary approach encompassing the entire technical effort to develop, evolve, maintain and verify Product Data. Product data is defined as: All data created as a consequence of defining (requirements), designing, testing, producing, packaging, storing, distributing, operating, maintaining, modifying and disposing of a product. The traditional components of Product Data are; technical drawings, parts list, standards and specifications, packaging and other technical instructions, and data.

  5. Engineering Types of Requirements The types of support that Engineering Directorate may requiring both off-site and on-site support for Engineering, JPEO/JPM, and customer programs representative of the following: Systems Engineering Support Advanced Design, Prototyping, Manufacturing for Engineering, Production and Quality Engineering Support
