  3. Lakhimpur – Uttar Pradesh • Pastor Robert’s church in Uttar Pradesh has grown from 30 to 600 members in three years and planted more than 40 churches. • Many believers live far away. So they come on Saturday evening and camp overnight in the church hall before the Sunday service!

  4. Growing church raided • On 8 August, 2010, during the service, police raided the church and arrested Pastor Robert and his wife following a complaint from the World Hindu Council • Pastor Robert and his wife were released with a warning that they should stop gathering large numbers in the church but should worship only with their immediate family.

  5. Converts beaten • When at least 29 people from the Hindu community in Bolaga village accepted Christ, enraged local Hindus attacked the village. • The mob broke the door of Sushila's house, where the converts had gathered for prayer, ransacked it, beat up the men and assaulted Sushila and two other ladies. • Then they bribed the police and lodged a false complaint against some of the Christians for converting Hindus to Christianity. The police arrested Sushila and others.

  6. 21 families were affected by the Hindu attack on Bolaga village Houses were looted and burned None of the villagers has land. Before the riot they lived in poor conditions with minimal income. • Sushila’s home and possessions were ruined when the mob attacked

Pastor martyred • . • PastorKumudaBardhan (42) was killed on 26 August 2008 when a mob came to attack Christians in Mukundapur village, Gajapati District. • They beat him unconscious before destroying houses and the village church. Christians fled into the forest or climbed on the roofs of their houses. • The attackers returned to Pastor Kumuda’s house and snatched him from his wife and children. They burned him alive in front of the church. • No one was arrested for Pastor Kumuda’s murder.

  11. Binod Kumar James - Shot Date of attack: 8 March 2009 Place: church, Nasriganj Pastor Binod Kumar James was shot and injured for converting people to Christianity

RaghoboSabar - Martyred Age: 22 Date of attack: 7 November 2009 Place: Rayagada District He was ambushed and brutally murdered on the way to a nearby village His parents wanted to file an incident report, but the mob threatened them, saying that they would kill the whole family if this happened

  15. In one church alone, Bhogpur Church in Gajapati District, 38 people have been converted in the last five years. • They are now constantly and enthusiastically following our Lord Jesus Christ.
