Class Objective • Gain a thorough understanding of the IHS MPI user interface tools deployed in the central IHS environment.
IHS NHIE Overview - Goals • Enable IHS Cross-Facility health data exchange as well as health data exchange with external organizations over the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) • Enable each IHS Facility to maintain ownership and control over their patient data

MPI Tools • Data Quality Manager (DQM) • Look at patient data and how records have been matched • Reporting Tool • Generate reports against the MPI database • Enterprise Tracker and Monitor (ETM) • Track HL7 messages and DQM usage • Access Manager • Control access to ETM and DQM
Data Quality Manager Tool(DQM) • Data Quality Manager (DQM) is the MPI user interface • Allows users to: • View patient data • See how the MPI has identified definite and potential matches • Make corrections and enhancements to these matches

Enterprise Tracker & Monitor Tool • Tool for keeping track of messages in the context of a work flow or business process • At IHS, monitors HL7 messages flowing between the MPI and RPMS • Also monitors usage of DQM • Messages can be resubmitted for processing • Generates alarms, with email notifications, when tracked applications are having issues
