  17. Who are you? After we go over the rules, you will have a minute to answer questions so that I can get to know you better.

  18. Class Expectations and Procedures

  19. When You Enter the Classroom… Walk over to the side table, and… • Pick up one copy of EACH document • Go directly to your seat • Begin working on the Catalyst Questions (they will be on the board) immediately and quietly

  20. Catalyst • Come find your desk • Pick up the papers on the way in • Quietly fill out the emergency contact information Homework: Bring back partent survey, $10 lab fee, and Three ring binder

  22. Rewards • Student of the Week and +5% on quiz • Working hard all week • Bonus Dollars • Answering tough questions • Tickets • Working hard

  23. Consequences • Verbal Warning • Record on discipline tracker • “Why disrupt assignment” • Detention • Referral * Mr. Welle reserves the right to change the consequence to equal to the severity of the infractions.

  24. Answering Questions • To ask a question raise your hand and wait to be called on

  25. Cell Phones • Recorded on the consequence chart • Multiple infractions – I will take up the cell phone

  26. Food • No food or drink in the classroom • To be finished outside of the classroom

  27. Bathroom • Only for emergencies • Not an everyday occurrence without medical note • Abuse of the bathroom policy will lose you the right to go in the class.

  28. First Assignment! • No talking during assignments • Ask the teacher if you have a question • I do have typos occasionally on the assignment, if you find one point it out.

  29. Daily Work Grades • Neat, complete and Effort • Neat: I can read it without difficulty • Complete: unless you can answer in 1-2 words, you need to use a complete sentence to receive credit • Effort: Your answers must make sense!!

  31. Success in College This class is designed to prepare you for success in college. To go to college you have to be disciplined and a hard worker.

  36. Big Goal Class average of 80% mastery for all Louisiana Grade-Level Expectations (GLEs) Ready to enter a higher level class (AP Biology, College level Biology)

  38. Syllabus – Materials • 1.5” binder, with sections (see syllabus) • Syllabus and biology resumes • Notes • Weekly sheets • Classwork and homework • Tests, quizzes, and review packets

  39. Grading • Test/Quizes/Projects = 65% of your grade • Classwork/Homework = 35% of your grade

  40. Late Policy • Late project are accepted. • Lose 10 points/day • Will not accept the project over a week late

  41. Other assignments • Homework and class work will not be accepted late, unless you were absent. • Then it is your responsibility to make up the work

  42. Syllabus – Consequences • Warning • Lunch detention • After-school detention, phone call home • Referral Consequences are cumulative and reset weekly
