  3. NEED – REQUIREMENT • LL ATTACKS ESSENTIAL FOR CLOSE AIR SUPPORT ROLE – NO ALTERNATIVE • RETARDER BOMBS • DELIVERY POSSIBLE FROM LL • SUITABLE FOR LARGE AND STATIC TGTS WHERE LARGE CONC OF HE • INEFFECTIVE AGAINST SMALL TGTS • REQT – WPN TO GIVE HIGH KILL PROB AGAINST SMALL TARGETS

PRINCIPLE OF OPS • PRINCIPLE OF SHOT GUN - CATERS FOR AIMING ERRORS. • PARENT BOMB CONTAINS NUMBER OF SUB-MUNITIONS. • ON RELEASE FROM AC - PARENT BOMB IS RETARDED - EITHER RETARDING FINS OR PARACHUTE. • AFTER ENSURING THAT THE BOMB HAS BEEN SUFFICIENTLY RETARDED - THE SKIN / COVER OF THE PARENT BOMB IS EXTRACTED / PEELED OFF.

PRINCIPLE OF OPS • AFTER ENSURING THAT THE SKIN IS PEELED OFF - SUB-MUNITIONS ARE EXTRACTED. • EACH SUB-MUNITION AFTER EXTRACTION IS SEPARATELY RETARDED. • EACH SUB-MUNITION FUNCTIONS INDEPENDENTLY AFTER HITTING THE TARGET. • TYPE OF WARHEAD IN THE SUB-MUNITION - ANTIPERSONNEL OR ANTI-TANK OR RUNWAY PENETRATION.

  6. BL 755 • DESIGNED TO CARRY 147 DUAL – PURPOSE / GP BOMBLETS. • DESIGN. A GAS OPERATED SYSTEM WHEN ACTIVATED • SPLIT THE OUTER CASING INTO TWO PARTS. • EJECTED THE BOMBLETS AT VARYING TIMES AND VELOCITIES.

  15. BL-755 1. AFTER RELEASE, STABILISING FINS EXTEND AND THE BOMB FOLLOWS A NORMAL BALLISTIC TRAJECTORY. 2. AFTER A SELECTED TIME DELAY THE OUTER CASING IS SPLIT INTO TWO BY GAS PRESSURE FROM A PRIMARY CARTRIDGE.

OPERATION • BOMBLET EJECTION VELOCITY IS VARIED BETWEEN BAYS TO ENSURE EVEN GROUND COVER. • EACH BOMBLET IS ARMED AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF FLIGHT AND ON IMPACT THE SHAPED CHARGE PENETRATES THE ARMOUR – 25 CM PENETRATION. • IN ADDITION TO ITS ANTI-ARMOUR CAPABILITY EACH BOMBLET CASING DISINTEGRATES INTO 2000(1850 MT/S) FRAGMENTS WHICH ARE EFFECTIVE AGAINST NON-ARMOURED TARGETS AND PERSONNEL. • PIEZO ELECTRIC FUSE – FUSE ARMED ONLY WHEN TAIL IS DEPLOYED – FIVE ROTATIONS

BME-330 NOSE CONTAINER • IT CONSTITUTES THE FRONTAL END OF THE CYLINDRICAL SKIN AND HOUSES THE TWIN FUZE SYSTEM AND ELECTRONIC UNIT • THIS ELECTRONIC UNIT SUPPLIES ELECTRICAL POWER THROUGH FUZE TO DE-SKINNING OF BODY AND TO THE PYROCARTRIDGE FOR SCATTERING OF BOMBLETS. MAIN BODY • MAIN BODY HOUSES THE CLUSTER FRAME WHERE BOMBLETS ARE STORED IN NINE LAYERS EACH LAYER CONTAINS TWENTY BOMBLETS.IT ALSO CONTAINS THE DE-SKINNING SYSTEM AND THE SCATTERING SYSTEM FOR BOMBLETS DISPERSION. TAIL UNIT • STABILISES THE BOMB AFTER RELEASE.IT HOUSES A PARACHUTE ASSEMBLY HELD TO THE BOMB WITH THE HELP OF HOLDING DEVICE.
