  1. 1 Peter 1:6-9 • In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith--more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire--may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. • Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

  2. Why Saints Can Rejoice In Sufferings

  3. God’s Great Mercy Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, (3a) That benevolence, mildness or tenderness of heart which disposes a person to overlook injuries, or to treat an offender better than he deserves; the disposition that tempers justice, and induces an injured person to forgive trespasses and injuries, and to forbear punishment, or inflict less than law or justice will warrant. In this sense, there is perhaps no word in our language precisely synonymous with mercy. That which comes nearest to it is grace. It implies benevolence, tenderness, mildness, pity or compassion, and clemency, but exercised only towards offenders. Mercy is a distinguishing attribute of the Supreme Being. See Psalm 103:6-14

  4. New Birth • he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, (3b) • New creation • Old man put to death • Renewed in spirit of our minds • It Provides – A Living Hope • It Was Accomplished – through the Resurrection

  5. Heirs Of Eternal Life • to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time (1:4-5). • Incorruptible – won’t decay • Undefiled– unspotted • Unfading – eternal • Out of human reach – kept in heaven • Safe from harm – guarded by God’s power

  6. 1 Peter 1:6-9 • In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith--more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire--may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. • Though you have not seen him, you love him.
