  1. I Peter 1:3-9 The Joy of Salvation

  2. I Peter 1:6-9: The Joy of Salvation • Joy flows from Salvation and Deliverance: Luke 15 • Salvation joy is the theme of Peter’s message in this section. Ps. 4:7, Isa. 35:10, Isa. 61:10 • We as the redeemed are to experience that joy. I Thess. 5:16

  3. I Peter 1:6-9: The Joy of Salvation • How can we experience salvation joy? We are to focus on: • 1. A Protected Inheritance (vv. 3-5) Rom. 5:2 • This is the joy of anticipation. • 2. A Proven Faith. (v. 5b-7) • Joy comes, not in spite of trouble but because of trouble. God brings trials into your life to prove your faith.

  4. I Peter 1:6-9: The Joy of Salvation • Trouble… • Is Temporary (v. 6) • Serves a Purpose (v. ) .. purpose is humble us, get us to look to Him, chasten us, enable us to help others, etc. I Peter 5:10 • Brings Pain (v. ) that is the point, refinement. • Comes in many forms. (v. 6) • Shouldn’t diminish joy (v. 7) why? because if you pass through the test, your faith becomes proven.

  5. I Peter 1:6-9: The Joy of Salvation • Two more things about a Proven Faith: • A Proven Faith takes away the doubt of our salvation and adds to the joy of anticipation. • Proven Faith vs. Gold: Gold stands the test of fire but does not stand the test of eternity, therefore proven faith is more precious than pure gold.

  6. I Peter 1:6-9: The Joy of Salvation • 3. A Promised Honor (v. 7) • We rejoice in the prospect of what God has for us in the future by His grace. • The praise and the glory and the honor, has to do with you. 1 Peter 2:20. Matt. 25:21 • How? Because we will be at that moment in time made in the exact image of Christ. • When will it happen? At the revelation of Jesus Christ. I Peter 1:13

  7. I Peter 1:6-9: The Joy of Salvation • 4. A Personal fellowship...a relationship with love and trust. • 5. A Present deliverance. (v. 9) • a. Delivered from what? Sin, guilt, condemnation, wrath, ignorance, distress, confusion, hopelessness, everything that's fallen and defiling. We have a constant present tense salvation. • b. We are no longer slaves to sin, we are no longer in bondage to it. John 15:11 • David prayed, "Lord, restore to me the joy of Thy salvation,"
