  1. Wisdom Teeth Removal : Procedure And Recovery

  2. INTRODUCTION The last upper and lower corner teeth are known as Wisdom Teeth. The process of extraction of your third molar teeth would be known as Wisdom Teeth Removal. It happens in the late teens and early twenties. Generally, we people have four wisdom teeth in each corner quadrant. Some people have one to three, more than four or we can say sometimes none depending upon the person to person.Wisdom tooth removal can be performed by a dentist or a specialist surgeon working in a hospital.

  3. How Do You Know If You Need To Get Wisdom Teeth Removed ? At times all four wisdom teeth erupt normally and don’t cause any problems at all. But oftentimes wisdom teeth grow in such a way that it gets fully or partially trapped (impacted) in the jawbone or under the gum tissue. This can cause a number of problems. You can get a recommend wisdom teeth extraction if you: Have constant dental pain near the back of your mouth. Stuck food and debris around your wisdom teeth. Develop gum disease, particularly around your molars. Have cavities in a partially erupted wisdom tooth. Develop an infection or cyst (fluid-filled sac) around one or more wisdom teeth. Have sustained injury to nearby teeth or surrounding bone.

  4. Wisdom Teeth Procedure You can ask your dentist or surgeon any questions you have about the procedure beforehand. The doctor will give you anesthesia. Any one of local anesthesia, sedation anesthesia, and general anesthesia. The steps are as follows: The dentist or oral surgeon will : Makes a cut in the gum tissue to expose the tooth and bone Removes bone that blocks access to the tooth root Divides the tooth into sections if it's easier to remove in pieces Removes the tooth Cleans the site of the removed tooth of any debris from the tooth or bone Stitches the wound closed to promote healing, though this isn't always necessary Places gauze over the extraction site to control bleeding and to help a blood clot form

  5. Wisdom Teeth Recovery After your surgery, follow your dentists instructions on : Try to avaoid excessive spitting so you don’t dislodge the blood clot from the socket. Replace the gauze from the extraction site as directed by your dentist. Take some painkillers such as acetaminophen (tylenol, others) or a prescribed pain medication from your dentist. Use an ice pack to reduce the swelling of your cheeks. Drink lots of water after the surgery. Don't drink alcohol, caffeinated, carbonated or hot beverages in the first 24 hours. Don't drink with a straw for at least a week because the sucking action can dislodge the blood clot from the socket.

  6. Wisdom Teeth Recovery Eat only soft foods, such as yogurt or soup, for the first 24 hours. Start eating semi-soft foods when you can tolerate them. Avoid hard, chewy, hot or spicy foods that might get stuck in the socket or irritate the wound. Don't brush your teeth, rinse your mouth, spit or use mouthwash during the first 24 hours after surgery. Typically you'll be told to resume brushing your teeth after the first 24 hours. Be particularly gentle near the surgical wound when brushing and gently rinse your mouth with warm salt water every two hours and after meals for a week.

  7. Conclusion: Looks like you have got an in depth insight into how to get wisdom teeth surgery followed by its recovery. Wisdom teeth surgery takes around 45 minutes and you can be discharged the same day. It is a simple procedure and simply follow the instructions given by your dentist or oral surgeon for a quick recovery. Schedule a follow up appointment with your dentist for checkup.
