The Prophet Kahlil Gibran Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, And through they are with you yet they belong not to you You may give them your love but not your thoughts For they have their own thoughts You may house their bodies but not their souls For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you connot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

Leader of self and influence others being able to stand up to peer pressure My words:Parents play an important role to instill your children with the knowledge and skills to be a leader everyday of their life...beginning TODAY!

  13. Tips and Suggestions: Encourage independence says “Yes, you Can!” “It's not a problem, it's a Challenge!”” never give up!” Trust them to find solutions themselves; says “Never give up,” Encouraging instead of rewarding/praising learn from mistakes and move ahead_make commitment do my best/no comparison 2. Understanding your child, yourself and the situation Kind but firm( set up limit, avoid tension, positive, admit your mistakes, respectful tones, no back talk, focus on/share feelings, don’t use punishment, action instead of nagging) Rational but not emotional ( calm, suggestions instead of ordering: what about your…?) communicating daily 3. Taking actions: Looking at/talking about leaders parents be a leader yourself Looking for leadership opportunities Encouraging kids to solve problems by studying
