  1. The President is the ‘Figure Head’ of the Badminton Society, their main role is to oversea all aspects of Badminton, whether it be Socials or Team Surrey based. The President must be kept in the loop with all activities, i.e. socials, Team, finance etc

  2. The President and Vice-President roles will be split into two, so that the roles are shared between. The incoming President will be working predominately with Team Surrey players and the Vice-President will work predominately with Intermediate players. Training for both Intermediate players and Team Surrey players will be monitored by BOTH Hayley Connor (Head Coach) and our Student Coach team.

  3. Treasurer has FINAL say on ANY financial decision. The Treasurer must be included anything financial to aid with their end of year report. The President can advise on the decisions and agree to anything, but they cannot make the final decision.

  4. Social Secretaries • The Social Secretaries are split into two • one to focus on Team Surrey players • one to focus on non-Team Surrey players. • Socials must be an integral part of the Badminton community • To ensure retention of our social members, socials need to be frequent and fun • The individuals that take on this role will need to organise socials (either non-alcoholic and alcoholic) • Socials should happen relatively frequently (at least 2 per month) • Social Secs will head up the PlaySport, No Strings Badminton sessions on Sunday alongside the Head Student Coach/es

  5. Captains • Captains are in charge of each team that participate in BUCS (Men’s and Women’s 1st, Men’s 2nd) • Each week, team selection will be discussed with and approved by Hayley. • In the event of not achieving a full team before Wednesday – THE PRESIDENT MUST BE NOTIFIED • The President will then help find replacement players so that Team Surrey Badminton can send out a full team, generally this will be from the Intermediate squad so the Vice-President will be involved too

  6. Head of Student coach/es • This is a non-elective role. It will be decided by the President and Team Surrey Badminton Head Coach (Hayley) • This individual will take up all Student coach business • Liaise with Claire Shapland (Sport Development Officer) about student coaching • Organising student coaching opportunities (Level 1/2 coaching, SmashUp Activator) • Officials qualifications • The role will also take charge of the PlaySport, No Strings Badminton session on Sunday where they will work with the Socials Secs to deliver the sessions

  7. Women’s Officer • This position is only for women • The main job for this person is to promote Badminton to more female players within the University and encourage more girls to come and play • There is always a lack of female players especially with Team Surrey Badminton, hopefully having someone to specifically target the female population here at Surrey we can increase participation from this group of students
