At the National Herbarium of Ecuador, botanists are dedicated to collecting and preserving the rich plant diversity of Ecuador, especially from the cloud forests of the Santa Lucia Reserve. In the main collection area, they meticulously categorize numerous specimens, including a dedicated section for all pine species found in the country. The herbarium also features a greenhouse that protects plants at risk of extinction due to deforestation. Their monumental task of cataloguing plant species ensures the appreciation of Ecuador’s unique botanical heritage.
