  1. Camp KaitawaBy David Milne

  2. Monday My mum and I went to school to meet the other year 6’s. Then we got into groups. Jack , Louis , Mitchell went with me and mum in the car. We had lunch at St Joesph’s school in Wairoa. When we walked in the hall we had lunch. After lunch Jack and me did the dishes. We played ping-pong and it was fun. But then someone lost ball and then we had to go. When we left St Joseph’s school we had wait at the supermarket for my mum because she had all the food we had to use for the week. Then we went to camp. We unpacked all our gear and put it in our cabins. After we did that we had a meeting in the dining room. Mrs Baudinet talked to the years 6’s about what we were going to do there. After that we had diner and after that we had dessert. We got have a choice of Milo and a biscuit. I choose a biscuit with a marshmallow in the middle.

  3. Tuesday We started the Ngamoko walk. I did the first 15mins of the walk up to the big Rata tree that was 800 – 1000 years old. Then I went back with Ro and my mum. When we got there Ro and my mum started cooking. When I came back from mine and mum’s hut my mum asked if I could help with food and I did. The year 6 boys and girls went to the dining room then we had dinner. After that we watched Ice Age 3. I went to sleep half way through the movie.

  4. Wednesday We started to do the caves and I did all the of walk. It was fun because Miss Hewett fell over. In the morning we went to Michael Noonan’s Grave. After that we went back to camp. Then we had lunch in a hut because it was raining. Then we had the Onepoto Cave walk. We had to go through 6 caves. It was fun and muddy too. Mr C got stuck in the mud. It was a 3 hour walk. When we got back we had dinner. It was burgers and it was yum. Then we went to bed .

  5. Thursday When the years 6’s got up we had cooked breakfast. Then we got our food into our lunchboxes. Then we got ready to go and do the Lake Waikareiti walk. Then we got our stuff and did our second to last walk of this week. We played the game called the famous name game and we visited the Papakorito falls and we did the loop track. When we got back we did the Obstacle Course. It was fun and tiring. Then I went to find my mum but she found me and she asked me where I was and I said I did the Obstacle Course. She was pleased for me. Then we had dinner and it was delicious because we did a cookout. My groups dinner was good and we had marshmallows on a stick and it was good and then we went to bed.

  6. Friday We did the dishes and then we played some games and went home and I had a pie and a ice cream and went home. I really enjoyed camp!
