  9. Threats to National Security & Privacy - 1 The threats are more from inside than outside. The threats come from criminals in legislatures, bureaucracy and business and their nexus. Next, the threats emanate from misconceived economic and political policies. Examples are SEZs and land acquisition, plans for nuke power plants, GM foods, FDI in retail, and misplaced confidence in (foreign) IT Citizens' Action Forum

  10. Threats to National Security & Privacy - 2 Electronic components and foreign software are one of the severest threats to both national security and privacy that are hardly realised by politicians, bureaucrats and businesses Examples are: use of foreign made electronic chips, modems, routers, computer systems and software Citizens' Action Forum

  11. Threats to National Security and privacy - 3 UID is the single biggest threat to both national security & privacy. Why? To national Security because – A central database would be a target for terrorism. We are giving away our demographic data to US intelligence agencies. To privacy because - It is “intrusive bullying” and an “assault on personal liberties”. Citizens' Action Forum

  12. Solutions to National Security • Economic policies – both national and international to fight disparities, food security, illiteracy, unemployment, housing and health • Political honesty & prevention of corruption • Neutrality in Foreign Policy • Justice and access to it • Trade policies • Agricultural policies – avoid corporatization • Rural development, prevention of migration to cities and educational policy • Eternal vigilance the price of freedom Citizens' Action Forum
