Developing SST ECV Data Processing Framework for GHRSST-12 Reanalysis Breakout Session

This project aims to outline essential items for the SST Essential Climate Variable (ECV) Data Processing Framework (DPF). The DPF will guide data providers on actions needed for their data to be considered as ECVs, including format requirements, assessment against metrics, and inclusion in established facilities. Future priority actions for SST reanalysis will also be identified.

The SST ECV Data Processing Framework • Please provide a one-page summary of items you believe should be part of an SST Essential Climate Variable (ECV) Data Processing Framework (DPF) • The DPF would be used to by data providers who wish their data to be considered as ECVs • The DPF would define actions that would need to be taken by the provider in order to be considered and assessed as ECVs • Example elements of a DPF “checklist” could include: • Data in GDS2 format • Data submitted to GDAC/LTSRF • Data assessed against community-established metrics (what metrics should be included?) • Data included in GHRSST/GCOS Intercomparison Facility • Well-documented production source code made available • Others?
