  1. Goodbye,Kodak Made by group one

  2. About Kodak • Kodak, whose full name is Eastman Kodak Company, is a multinational US corporation famous for producing photographic materials and equipment. It founded by inventor George Eastman and businessman Colin Craft in 1881 • It was once successful and known to amost everyone

  3. But,nowaday,Kodak is downfallen • What happened?

  4. What are the market opportunities missed by Kodak since the 1960s? • Throughout by the tide of the whole life of Kodak, it missed two big opportunities resulting in decline in sales. • On the one hand, Kodak did the wrong marketing research on analyzing their company’s customers in 1960s, so it rejected the supply of a team of chemists. Because Kodak wrongly estimated that the potential consumers would’t accept the grainy, less-defined photographs and such an inferior technology. Unfortunately, Polaroid later adopted the instant technology, which succeeded greatly.

  5. On the other hand, Kodak missed out again on being the leader in a new imaging technology that created an entire industry.Specifically, Kodak denied another new product: Xerography-photocopying, who was considered as producing poor-quality images. As a result, the company’s profitability is falling persistently for a long time

  6. What lessons can we draw from Kodak’s flawed marketing strategies? • From Kodak’s flawed marketing strategies, we can draw a conclusion that Kodak pay much attention to product-oriented approach, but not a customer-oriented approach. Not only did it rely on the long-term and under-developed conventionally technologies, but it lacked of prospective analyses of market. Eventually, Kodak missed the good opportunities. • That is, Kodak did not put the needs of customers first. It just considered the short-term profit and existing technological level. Therefore, a company should focus on the three aspects: target market, seizing opportunities and adventurous spirit for achieving success.

  7. That is all Thank you
