  1. Stop Bleeding

  2. Certain medical conditions and injuries can result in bleeding, which in some people, triggers fear and anxiety, leaving them unable to apply first aid to Stop Bleeding. Though you cannot always judge the seriousness of a cut or wound by just the amount that it bleeds, a minor cut or scratch can be treated at home in order to Stop Bleeding at home.

  3. Step 1 Completely clean the wound under warm, running water or use alcohol-free wipes to thoroughly clean the area.

  4. Step 2 • Pat the area dry and cover it with a sterile gauze – if that is not available, then use a clean, non-fluffy cloth.

  5. Step 3 Elevate the part of the body where its bleeding to help stop the bleeding.

  6. Step 4 Apply a sterile dressing to the area by removing the gauze that you had used to cover the cut.

  7. While these steps ensure that the cut stops bleeding, did you know that the following household items can also help you in stopping the blood?

  8. Cayenne Pepper –Sprinkling a generous amount of powdered cayenne pepper on an open wound helps the blood to clot and for the wound to close faster.

  9. Salt –We understand why you might think that rubbing salt on a wound might make it worse, but salt being a disinfectant, pulls toxins from the open wound to prevent infection and helps to keep an open wound dry by absorbing blood.

  10. Geranium –Helps to close wounds quickly due to it being an astringent.

  11. Toothpaste –Dabbing toothpaste on a minor shaving cut provides an astringent effect as well as constricting blood vessels to help close the cut faster.
