  2. The starting • The term “Ghetto” originated from the name of the Jewish quarter in Venice, Italy (Est. 1516)

  3. The Use of them • During WW II Ghettos were city districts (often enclosed )in witch the Germans concentrated the Jews there and forced them to live under miserable conditions.

  4. The use part II • These were used to separate the Jewish population from the non-Jewish population.

  5. The use part III • The Germans used this tactic to control and segregate the Jews while under Nazi control.

  6. How many were there? • The Germans established at least 1,000 ghettos in Germany and annexed Poland.

  7. What happened to them? • In 1941 the implantation of the "Final solution” all Ghettos where to be destroyed and all residents were to be shot on site.

  8. Then what? When the German SS soldiers came to the ghettos to get the Jews they forced some of the Jews into labor camps.

  9. The types of ghettos • There were three types of Ghettos, open ghettos, closed ghettos, and destroyed ghettos.
