  5. Benefits of Good Choices • Higher level of energy • Feel better all around • Higher self-esteem • Decrease chances of disease • Live longer

  6. Making bad choices? • Bad choices have an effect too • Can cause you to…. • Be overweight • Have higher risk of disease • Feel tired a lot • Have a lack of energy

  7. Instead of….. • Sitting down playing video games • Go outside and play • Eating sweets • Grab an apple or grapes • Drinking a bottle of pop • Grab a bottle of water

  9. Physical Activity • Two types of exercises Anaerobic Lasts few seconds Great bursts of energy Aerobic nonstop, repetitive

  11. How much? • Teens should get 60 minutes a day • Wide variety of exercise • Build muscle and endurance • Do aerobic and anaerobic exercises

  12. Reasons to exercise • Can reduce stress • Sharpen alertness • Increase self-esteem • Increase energy • Look and feel better

  13. Nutrition • Grains- ~ 6 oz. a day • Vegetables- ~ 2 cups a day • Fruits- ~ 1 ½ cups a day

  15. Staying Hydrated • Drink about eight glasses of water • Drink before, during, after workouts • Body needs water to function

  16. Dehydration • Not drinking enough water • Feel thirsty, already somewhat dehydrated • Some signs include • Dry mouth • Muscle cramps • Nausea • Headache • Feeling tired
