  1. How did Theodore Roosevelt contribute to the Progressive Era?

  2. Throughout Theodore Roosevelt’s(TR’s) presidency, many of his actions showed that he believed the president should act in the interest of the public. President Theodore Roosevelt (1901–1909)

  3. TR believed in consumer protection and pushed for the passage of the Meat Inspection Act and Pure Food and Drug Actin 1906.

  4. TR was known as a “trustbuster”,breaking up trusts that he thought were bad for the U.S. economy.

  5. TR supported better working conditions for workers and was one of the first presidents to support striking workers. Coal Strike of 1902

  6. TR was a conservationist, believing that wilderness lands and their resources should be protected. Yosemite National Park (in CA)  Roosevelt and conservationist John Muir

  7. As a result, TR set aside land for national parks, wildlife refuges, and monuments. Mount Olympus National Monument (in WA) Grand Canyon National Monument (in AZ)
