The Circles of Sustainability was introduced in 2007 as a joint project between UNGCCP, chaired by Prof. Paul James at RMIT University Australia, and United Cities and Local Governments UCLG The UNGCCP methodology The Urban Profile Process It introduces a comprehensive methodology to understand and assess the sustainability performance of a territory The analysis is based on FOURdomains Ecology - Economics - Politics - Culture domains are composed by seven perspectives, each has seven aspects used to generate a finer assessment

The Urban Profile process is the tool to develop the assessment, it can be applied to cities or metropolitan areas, with the participation of local actors and external experts The UNGCCP methodology The UN GC Cities Programme & the Urban Profile Process It is possible to perform the evaluation at four levels: Rapid - Aggregate - Annotated - Comprehensive 1-2 days 2h 4h 6-12 months The profile outcome always consist of a clear and simple graphic representation The representation is built with the reply to questions for domains, perspectives and aspects
