UW-ACE Update to UCIST 23 October 2008 Andrea Chappell
CE/Training in UW-ACE: Who’s in? • Guidelines for “other” uses • June 2006, UCIST approved CE courses for Society of Management Accountants. • Other interest: Office for Human Dev, CTE, more in CE. • Questions to tackle: • Who "approves" which courses will run in UW-ACE? (Not CE Steering Committee. UCIST?) • Run a separate system for CE courses? Or ANGEL "domain“ for different "look" for the two uses. • ACE Ops to discuss, bring proposal to UCIST.
UW-ACE Operations Retreat • Held 20 June 2008 • Outcome a set of prioritized items • Audio and video uploads to UW-ACE • Defining important integration points • Usage statistics gathering • Presence management (ANGEL Live, more) • UW-ACE support model • Communicating/Gathering feedback
OLE 2010 Review Project: What • Consider online learning directions beyond May 2010 (current ANGEL agreement). • Review campus needs. • Review commercial and open systems (e.g., Sakai, Moodle), trends, presence management, PDA support, Math support. • Sponsored by UCIST, with involvement from campus groups.
OLE 2010 Review Project: To date • Team: UW-ACE Ops, faculty members: James Skidmore, Joe Sanderson (on sabbatical), students: Andres Fuentes (VP Ed), Betina Lee (GSA), Bookstore. • First meetings 13 June (no faculty or students), project overview, review charter. • Meetings started again on October 1st. • Faculty input session set for December 3rd. • Collecting specs, will review existing comparisons, interviews with other groups. • Want to get message out through Bulletin to inform campus of project ... OK to proceed?
