Polar front Polar front is the transition in between the warm tropical and cold polar air mass. It can be found in the mid latitudes. The undulations of the frontal surface cause our weather to be different day by day.
Composite mean of 500 mb Air Temperature from 1948-2010 Temperature gradient is strongest in the mid latitudes. It is also where you can find the polar front.
Composite mean of zonal wind speed from 1968-1996 Thermal wind relationship states that when there is a temperature gradient, there would also be an increase of wind speed with height (vertical wind shear).

Front Experiment • Lab Write-up: • Objectives • Procedures • Include also a diagram (side view of the tank) to show the set up for the experiment • Results with diagrams • On your diagram, draw the front surface and water current direction • Note the speed and direction the paper dot is moving when they are placed closer to the cone and further away from the cone • Paper dots show the surface flow of water • Connect your results with frontal surfaces • Air masses, polar jet • Summary
