### Electric Fields and Gravitational Forces

AP Physics B

Parkview High School

Session 82 Magnetic Fields
• REMEMBER... Like electric charges repel each other and that unlike charges attract each other. WE DO NOT know why.
• The Rules we use just help us predict the magnitude and the direction of the force that will be experienced by one charge that was caused by other charges.
• The concept of ‘electric fields’ we developed to help us with our predictions.
• The electric field likes show the direction of the force that will be experienced by a charge.
Session 82 Magnetic Fields
• We measure magnetic fields strength B in teslas (T) to honor the Serbian-born American scientist Nikola Tesla (1856-1943).
• We are usually interested in the component of the magnetic fields strength B that is at an angle with the direction of the magnetic field.
• We call the perpendicular component of B the flux density and define it….
