Aphasia Training for Health Professionals Thursday October 9th – Norfolk General Hospital Registration 0830 Workshop 0900 – 1630 h • Target Audience: • You will benefit from this workshop if you: • are a Health Professional (non-speech language pathologist) working with stroke clients across the continuum • wish to learn techniques to communicate more effectively with clients with aphasia Continuing Education Credits: A personalized certificate of attendance will be given to all participants. This certificate can be used to obtain continuing education credits according to each profession’s rules and regulations. • Course Objectives: • To increase knowledge & enhance the capacity of health professionals to meet the needs of their clients with aphasia through practice and aphasia-friendly materials and communication strategies. • To provide practical strategies and techniques to improve your assessments and interventions and facilitate conversation with clients with aphasia. • To provide opportunities to practice strategies and techniques learned in the workshop through role-playing and group discussion and feedback. • Course Registration: • There is no fee for this workshop. • Registration includes lunch and refreshments and participant handouts. • Call 519-426-0130, ext. 1259 to reserve your spot by October 1, 2008. Although there is NO registration fee for this workshop, attendance will be limited to 25 participants to support small group learning and discussion. Early registration is recommended.
