  1. We were originally established as the WIC Association of Missouri, Inc. (WAMI) in 1988. Then in April 2003 by vote of the WAMI Board and membership, the operation name was changed to the Missouri WIC Association (MWA).

  2. Our Mission The Missouri WIC Association (MWA) guides and strengthens local agencies and WIC families by creating a healthy future through continued support and education.

  3. Vision The Missouri WIC Association (MWA) strives to provide our WIC community the best possible services we can. Ways in which we do this are through:

  4. Increased Participation To promote full participation and engagement in MWA. We plan to: Have Sponsored Training Events Local Agency Involvement/Participation Participant Voice/Involvement

  5. Image To be recognized as a well-structured Association and to be an advocate for Missouri WIC by promoting legislative awareness. • Build relationships with legislators • Be a voice for WIC • Become a role model for other states

  6. Communication To keep Local WIC Agencies informed of current WIC happenings. District Meetings Social Media Strengthen our relationships within our State Newsletter to Agencies

  7. Membership Membership in the Association is open to any Local WIC Agency interested in the welfare of the WIC Program. There are no membership fees One or more WIC personnel per Agency shall serve as the contact person for MWA.

  13. 2018 WIC Conference One option that we are looking at is the Hiltons of Branson. Some possible dates are: October 9 – 11 This is Tuesday through Thursday. November 26 – 30 We can pick any 3 days. We will also explore Kansas City.

  14. National WIC Association The National WIC Conference date is going to be April 2 – 5, 2017 in Phillidelphia, Pennsylvania. It changed due to the Zeka Virus outbreak in Miami. The Washington Leadership Conference will be February 26 – 28, 2017.

  15. National WIC Association • VOC Task Force • Separation of Duties: need a couple Local Agencies to calculate the time and financial cost involved with chart reviews by November 4, 2016. • Webinars Sponsored by the Local Agency Section • Ethics in Nutrition and Service Delivery – Rick Kyte, Phd is the Presenter and it will be sometime in December. • Food Allergies – new recommendations, guidelines and research. This is scheduled for January 11 at 3:00pm EST. • Post-Partum Nutrition and Weight Loss and it will be scheduled for late March or April. • Committee involvement
