Project Update for NCST Student Server. Project is to establish a web server for student use. That can be used while outside the school. Connect securely using ssh and sftp. Current Status. Currently we have loaded opensuse 11.2 on the machine we are going to be using as the web server.

  1. Project Update for NCST Student Server • Project is to establish a web server for student use. That can be used while outside the school. Connect securely using ssh and sftp

  2. Current Status • Currently we have loaded opensuse 11.2 on the machine we are going to be using as the web server. • It has SSL configured on it as well as ssl certificates configured and running.

  3. Current Status (cont.) • We have the ssh service running. Configured it for remote access. • Performed a loopback test on the ssh to ensure it is running correctly

  4. Current Status (cont. part 2) • SSH is running which will allow users to access the web server using sftp as well. • Got appropriate hostname and ip address for use with webserver.

  5. Short Term Goals • Configure the web server to be able to be accessed by the intranet, and students to be able to access it from home as well. • Ensure that the server is secure, so that only appropriate individuals will be able to access it.
