National Spatial Data Infrastructure Partnerships Subcommittee Update

NGAC Partnerships Subcommittee • Chair/Co-Chairs • Jerry Johnston, Gene Schiller • Members 2009 • Returning: Bull Bennett, Dick Clark, Randy Johnson, Barney Krucoff, Timothy Loewenstein • Departed: Michael Byrne, Don Dittmar, Charles Mondello, John Palatiello • Purpose • Develop recommendations to facilitate productive Federal / State / Local / Tribal / Academic / Private partnerships to facilitate the efficient and effective advancement of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).

NGAC Partnerships Subcommittee • Accomplishments/Products/Deliverables • Call for Case Studies executed and results available on NGAC wiki • Non-profit partner (National Council for Public-Private Partnerships, NCPPP) agreeable to use their website to host going forward • Associated ArcNews article • ASPRS Survey on partnerships • Legal Framework review • Data from all 50 states has been gathered • Discussions and planning around case studies (in particular, parcels for the nation)

NGAC Partnerships Subcommittee • Possible Next Steps / Deliverables • Update case studies database • And find it a permanent home! • Continue analysis of legal framework (federal, state, local, tribal, non-profit, educational) • What are the enabling statutes, regulations, policies to make these partnerships work? What is getting in the way? • Need to continue analysis with private sector partners – looking for details regarding creative PPPs with private funding • Pilot Projects • Parcels (ongoing) • Imagery (Microsoft / Digital Globe Clear30 (?) • Volunteered Geographic Information (?) • Cloud Computing (?) • Other (???)
