  4. 7-Step Sales Process for B2B Businesses

  5. 1. Preparation & Research The sales process is built on the foundation of preparation. Sales people must be knowledgeable about their products/services, target demographic, market, and brand's distinctive value. Examine your rivals.

  6. 2. Prospecting It's one thing to find customers. It's a different storey when it comes to enlisting the best. Prospective clients who have expressed interest in your product or service, or who may be interested based on their profiles, business, or other qualities, are qualified through the sales prospecting process.

  7. 3. Needs Assessment Now you have the attention of your potential customer. Fantastic! You must, however, conduct study to determine whether or not they require what you are selling.

  8. 4. Pitch/Presentation This is where you describe the distinct value your clients will receive if they buy your product or service.

  9. 5. Handling Objections Once a sales rep presents a proposal/demo, the prospect often raises questions or concerns (ideally in your CRM).

  10. 6. Closing Typically, you close the deal at this stage of the 7-step selling cycle, and all of your efforts are reflected in the company's revenue. While this may appear to be the most important stage, it is only effective if all of the preceding steps have been completed properly and in the correct order.

  11. 7. Follow-Ups, Repeat Business, & Referrals If you finish a sale successfully, it opens the door to further prospects for recurring business. Clients that are cross-sold or upsold might be one of your most valuable revenue streams.
