Research-to-Practice Partnership Networking Symposium October 29, 2014 • Ingham ISD and Consortium Districts will partner with research institutions to facilitate timely, applicable, and informative research. • Annual/Semi-Annual symposium to match researchers with potential participants in local schools

  5. Research Partners • Open to all interested research institutions • Current interest from • Michigan State University • University of Oregon • Florida Center for Reading Research • University of Virginia (?)

  6. Benefits • Speed the pace of research • Early access to critical data • Research that applies to our specific demographics • Braid research projects with current initiatives • Influence the questions being asked

  7. District Participation • Represent your schools • Ingham ISD District Liaisons will prepare a 5-minute presentation describing your district. The presentation will be sent to your central office to be proofed by 10/22. • Enrollment & Demographic information • Major Initiatives • Questions you want answered • Set up a recruitment table • Poster/Sign • Brochures or other marketing material

Example: WCS, FSU, and Ingham ISD • Research involving reading comprehension strategies and test accommodations • Used assessments already in use in schools • Capitalized on benchmark assessment window • Gained valuable information for test taking and reading comprehension • Little to no inconvenience for students and staff.

Vision Ingham ISD will partner with research institutions to conduct timely, relevant, and important educational research for the advancement of effective education in consortium districts and the educational community at-large. Ingham ISD staff will participate in the conduct of research as investigators in partnership with researchers from reputable institutions. Ingham ISD staff will work to ensure that researchers are addressing urgent and relevant questions that directly impact the needs of stakeholders at Ingham ISD and local districts.

  12. Vision (cont.) Ingham ISD will work in partnership with researchers to secure extramural funding to conduct research. Ingham ISD will share research findings, application of research to practice, and innovations with the educational community through publication in peer review journals, conference presentations, and professional development training.
