  3. 1. Product Overview 1-1 Purpose HCC-75P(W) is a capacitance type level switch that detects a measure object by measuring the change of capacitance value generated from the measure object (liquid or power) in Tank. HCC-75P(W) can be installed on the side or top of the Tank in various styles and warns the upper or lower limit of the level. 1-2 Features - It can detect the level of various measure objects (liquid or power). - It has a strong structure and is semi-permanentbecause there’re no mechanically running parts. - It can be used for high temperature and high pressure containers. - It can be used for containers that agitators are attached. - It can be used for high or low viscous liquid and highly corrosive liquid. - Its operation status can be checked on the spot. - Installation and operation is very easy. - It can set delay time of Relay contact output. - There’re various Probes depending on the use. 2. Operation principle and product composition The impedance between Probe and the wall of Tank (i.e. capacitance and conductance) is changed when Probe, attached to the Tank or a general container, contacts a measure object. It converts the changes of impedance to electric signals, run output Relay, and detects the existence or the level of the measure object. The following explains how to get the capacitance when the Tank is a cylinder shape. C :Capacitance (pF) ε : non-permittivity L : Probe Length D : Tank’s diameter d : Probe’s diameter HCC-75P_M_EHITROL CO., LTD.

  5. 4. Installation and cautions 4-1 Installation methods Install HCC-75P(W) on the top or the side of a container for the upper or lower limit. It can be installed on metal or synthetic resin containers since there are no restrictions on the material of a container. - Installation on the side of Tank (horizontal) It can measure objects whose sensitivity high since it detects the level with the whole electrode. However it should be installed at the end of electrodes down with a slope since it causes malfunctions by Build-Up. - Installation on the top of Tank (vertical) This is an installation method that has low effect of Build-Up but may be improper for measure objects whose permittivity is low and sensitivity is weak compared to the installation on the side because it detects the level only with the end of electrodes. 4-2 Cautions on installation - It should have 300 mm or more space between Probes when installing 2 or more level S/W on one container. (It will be unstable due to the effect of interaction between devices when the distance between Probes is short.) - For outdoor installation, Sun Cover should be installed to avoid the effect by the temperature rise. - For the side installation, Inactive Rod should be exposed 50 mm at the minimum and Probe should be installed with a slope of 15 degrees against a horizontal plane. (Foreign substances between nozzle and Probe cause malfunctions.) - Protector should be installed not to harm Probe by influent measure objects when doing the side installation. - For the side installation, line inlets should be installed facing the ground to be rain proof. - When installing on the Low Level, be careful with Dead Stock and Material Bridge. - Set Time Delay that delays the operation of output Relay appropriately when measure objects inside of Tank has mobility. 6. 4. Installation and cautions 5. Connections - Connect the AC(AC85~260V) or DC(DC18~30V) power supply according to the power specifications. - Make sure LED-G and LED-R are ON when power is supplied. - This product basically provides DPDT and connects lines by using COM and N.O terminals when using a high contact point. - It should be grounded externally. HCC-75P_M_EHITROL CO., LTD.

  7. 5. Connections • The AC power supply should be within AC 85V~260V. • Be careful not to change polarity (+ and -) when connecting the DC power supply. • The DC power supply should be within 18V~30V. • Do not connect lines when power is supplied. • Use terminal lugs when connecting lines. * LED-G: Sensor detection LED * LED-R: Relay operationLED * TIMER: Relay operation time after Sensor detection * S/W: Set Relay operation status - H: Relay operation when Sensor detection. - L: Relay operation when Sensor detection is released. * BCD S/W : Control the sensitivity of Sensor * FINE : Control the sensitivity of Sensor 6. Operation 1) Connect lines according to the connection diagram. 2) Make sure measure objectsdon’t contact PROBE(SENSOR). 3) Set S/W to ”H”, BCD to “F’, and Timer to “MIN.” 4) Provide power (AC85~260V). 5) Turn BCD S/W to the left (counter clockwise) till LED-G and LED-R are OFF. 6) Turn LED-G and LED-R ON by adjusting FINE and set FINE to a position where it turns them OFF again. 7) Make sure LEDs are ON and Relay is operating by adding measure objectsto Probe (Sensor). 8) Set TIMER to the desired time. 8. 7. Maintenance • 7-1 Check products • In the HCC-75P(W) level switch, there are two main parts, Sensor and Detection. • The life of main parts depends on the user environments and can be optimized via routine checks. • Thus the product should be maintained via annual routine check. • Check can be done by checking damages on the exterior and running a simple test for parts that can’t be checked with eyes. • <Check Sensor part> • Disconnect lines between Sensor and Detection and make sure the load of sensor part and the external grounding are separated. • <Check Detection part> • Make sure LED and Relay work normally upon the detection of the sensor part. • In addition to this, • - Remove all extraneous matters that are adhered to the device when cleaning Tank. • - Check insulation or mechanical damage of Probe if the moving speed of a mediais fast orit agitates the media. • - The water proof property of Probe should be checked regularly since lowering the insulation of Probe causes errors and malfunctions. • - When measuring objects whose adherence is strong, check whether the adherent objects are growing. They need to be removed if they’re growing. • 7-2 Cautions on separation • - Separate them after checking the water level and measure objects inside of Tank. • - When doing the separation work, wear gloves to avoid any burns caused by overheated products. • - Do not open the cover of the product if there exists any explosive gas. 9. 8. Cautions on moving, assembly, and installation 8-1 Cautions on installation - For flange to flange connection, the standard should be the same. - Users should use washersto prevent loosening between bolts and nuts. - For flange to flange connection, gaskets should be used. (Choose gaskets by considering the temperature of contents and the pressure of a container.) 8-2 Cautions on moving and disassembly - Do not put impact on the product. - Be careful not to harm O-ringsor gaskets when opening and closing the product cover. 8-3 Cautions on grounding - There are two groundings, external and internal. For external grounding, the size of a grounding line should be 4㎟ (4mmSQ). - The size of an internal grounding line should be the same as the power line but the size of terminal lugs for the internal grounding should be 3.1㎟ (3.1mmSQ). Connect the grounding line after pulling out terminal lugs when the power line is bigger than 3.1㎟. Cautions: When connecting to the internal grounding terminal after pulling out terminal lugs, washers should be used (to prevent loosening screws). HCC-75P_M_EHITROL CO., LTD.

  10. 9. Instructions for safety and environment 9-1 Cautions on use - When installing the product on a container, it should be installed as tightly as possible with tools. - Do not lose fasteners during use and the product should be installed. - Do not put huge impact on the product. 9-2 Cautions on product connection - A transmitter should be connected depending on the purpose. - Grounding should be connected to the internal grounding (grounding sockets are located inside of Head) and the external grounding. 9-3 Product disposal - Dispose the product after separating terminal board and body in the container when the product can not be used any more. No special care is required because there’re no parts that may harm environment (for example: mercury switch). 10.
