  1. American Author ProjectSkeleton Hits and Misses Thesis: In Tim O’Brien’s novel The Things They Carried, the main character and narrator, Tim O’Brien, notices a constant abuse towards human and non-human beings which indicates the incapability of man to resist even when there is no punishment. Thesis: In Spark’s novel At First Sight, two very unlike people are able to come together and mold their lives to get married and get through their hardships despite their differences due to true love. Thesis: In the book The Five People You Meet in Heaven, by Mitch Albom, Eddie discovers how the unknown incidents and unexpected happenings all become an ongoing circle between mistakes and sacrifices, and forgiveness and regret. Thesis: In the novel The Five People You Meet in Heaven, the author, Mitch Albom, expressed his belief that everybody’s life has meaning and purpose. He shows how every person affects other people and everybody’s lives are interconnected in some way. Thesis: The underlying theme in the story David Swan, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is good vs. evil. In this story, sleeping David himself cannot see nor tell who and what are good or evil. Therefore, Hawthorne uses many literary terms such as color and symbolism to help the reader distinguish between good and evil.

  2. Quote Analysis • Analysis: Guy’s mother sends him to an abusive bible camp because she is addicted to covering up the underlying truth of her son’s sexual identity. • Analysis: At the beginning of his career, Neely was at the top of his game. He was an all-star throughout high school. He was the star athlete in his small hometown where football was life. • Analysis: Here Pilar metaphorically steps out of her protective box from the world and learns what the meaning of taking a risk is. This shows that she is more comfortable with the idea of risks. Taking a risk requires a certain amount of confidence in oneself. From her confrontation with the stranger to this moment, it is evident that there is a drastic change in her character. • Analysis: It is highly insincere and mean what these people did to the other townspeople. This demonstrates how corruption is part of the society surrounding Huck.

  3. Analysis: Most people in this country take their rights for granted. In some places the minimal rights, considered inalienable here, are denied to the citizens of their respective countries. This quote illustrates Mark Bowden’s view on the fairness of life because it shows how the bare essentials of politics are denied to the masses by the corrupt few. • Analysis: It becomes clear that the South was misled by the time travelers and they acted on false information. Soon history rights itself out by defeating the neo-Nazis and bridging gaps between the technologies. • Analysis: it is through this quote that shows the importance of beauty and looks in (their) society. In reality, inner qualities are much more important, but are sometimes undermined. Dick’s love for Nicole is shown through wealth, and not pure love.
