E N D
Transporting Pallets • Where possible, use a pallet truck or available equipment • Use assistance if required • Drag the pallet rather than lift (check floor surface / terrain is good) • Gloves should be worn when handling pallets
Lifting Pallets • If a lift is necessary, carry it out in a balanced manner • Always unlock the legs to lift and lower • Keep the load close to the body
Bad Lifting Technique • Do not over stack when pallets are manually lifted & lowered • Do not place hands inside pallets when lifting • Do not drop pallets • Do not lose control of load • Do not lift using your back
Removing pallets from stack • Take a firm grip with two hands • With one foot forward pull the pallets towards you by using your legs • Pivot the pallet against the stack • Unlock the legs & lower under control
Putting pallets on stack • Lean pallet against stack • Unlock knees • Take a firm grasp at the side & base of the pallet • With a strong drive of the legs, lift the pallet up & lean the top edge against the stack • Guide on & lower under control into position
Removing pallets from low stack • Unlock the knees • Take a firm grip & lift with the legs pulling the pallet by dragging the far end towards your feet & stand upright • Never lose control of the load
Putting pallets on low stack • Unlock the knees & lift the pallet onto the edge of the pallet stack • Push the base away – at the same time unlocking the knees & lowering the pallet under control • Never lose control of the load
