  1. Be Responsible When you enter this classroom, immediately do the following: • Take your seat. • Turn off all electronic devices and place in backpack. • Take out all necessary materials (planner, binder, pencil) and place back pack on floor under desk. • Read the Smart Board and follow all directions posted. Copy homework assignment into planner. • Use a white board to complete any bell work that is assigned.

  4. STUDENT OUTCOME The student will….recall and use the Rules of Exponents to simplify expressions. Homework: Worksheets - “What Was Unusual About the Horse-breeding Magazine” AND “What Happens to a Dog Who Eats Table Scraps?”

  5. PRODUCT RULE- When MULTIPLYING with LIKE BASES, you keep the base and add the exponents. QUOTIENT RULE - When DIVIDING with LIKE BASES, you keep the base and SUBTRACT the exponents .

  6. POWER RULE - When RAISING A POWER TO A POWER, you MULTIPLY the exponents. NEGATIVE RULE - When you have a NEGATIVE exponent, you make it a fraction, flip it, and make the exponent POSITIVE.

  7. POWER OF A PRODUCT - When you RAISE A PRODUCT to the same power, apply the power to EACH factor then simplify. POWER OF A QUOTIENT - When you RAISE A QUOTIENT to the same power, apply the power to EACH factor then simplify.

  8. ZERO EXPONENT - When you have ZERO as an exponent, the answer is 1! ALWAYS
