  5. Project Goals • To ensure systematic integration of technology via a carefully sequenced planin pre-service coursework and field experiences

  6. Project Goals • To provide students and faculty access to modern technology resources.

  7. Components of Professional Development Program • Needs Assessment • Extensive Workshops • Follow-up Support • Mini-Grant Program • Cornerstone Course Development • Just in Time Resources

  8. Mini-Grant Goals • To support faculty who teach pre-service students to integrate modern learning tools and model effective use in courses. • 96+ awarded

  9. Field Experience Component

  10. Student Teacher Sign-up and Placement Student teacher could request a placement with a cooperating teacher who uses technology.

  11. Practica/Student Teaching Handbook Revision COE faculty, university supervisors, the director of field experiences, and the Associate Dean met to consider necessary revisions to the Practicum Handbook and the Student Teaching Handbook

Some Findings • Positive correlation between use of computers in student teaching with • the number of computers available in the classroom (p< .01) • Access to the computer lab in the school (p< .001) • Other variables cited in Interviews: • flexible scheduling • Support and encouragement from school staff.

  16. Evaluation: Faculty Development • Currently analyzing interviews with faculty • Participation in mini-grant and course redesign initiatives • Impact on courses/syllabi via planning matrix based on NETS-T • Overall impact on faculty’s professional practice. • Change in culture in the COE
