Community Sport Networks

  • District level organisation

  • Not a new idea – proven best practice
  • Evolving all over the country as well as in Nottinghamshire
  • There is not a prescribed structure for CSN:
slide14

Roles of a Community Sports Network

Role

  • Think strategically and act locally
  • Delivery role
  • Funding role
  • Equity role
  • Capacity building role
  • Promotional role
  • Coordination role
slide15

Aims

  • Avoid Duplication (Use existing groups)
  • Bringing together all the key statutory and voluntary sector organisations in a local authority area who are responsible for promoting, delivering, and funding sport and physical activity
  • Identify local needs and potential interventions.
  • Develop a shared vision and create an action plan that feeds into CSP
  • Secure resources from a broad range of partners to deliver identified interventions within action plan.
slide16
Aims
  • Build capacity to increase participation and widen access to opportunities with emphasis on people rather than places:
  • To be an action orientated hub – not a ‘talking shop’.
  • To act as a delivery mechanism for various themes within the LSP .
