Describe how corporate strategies are determined demonstrating good understanding of the complex skills and knowledge necessary to evaluate one or more strategic decision-making models. • Differentiate between and determine appropriate strategic choices, using advanced skills in conducting research. • Critically identify the barriers to the implementation of the choices, considering the consequences of strategy implementation. • Develop effective communication skills to be able to present key results and recommend appropriate strategic action. Case study assignment enabling you to critically evaluate the theories and practices associated with strategic analysis & management. • Application of research knowledge and understanding to case study business problems in various industry settings. • Emphasis on problem identification and linking relevant theoretical approaches to practical evaluation. • Formulating justifiable strategy recommendations.   4. The intended learning outcomes will be assessed as follows: • Coursework (30%): group presentation. This component will demonstrate the students' ability to display their mastery of the complex skills required of the strategist assessing learning outcomes 1, 2, 3 and 4. • Examination (70%): which will take the form of a two-hour, case study-based exam. • The case study will be made available to students prior to the assessment. • However, students are not permitted to take an annotated copy into the examination room.   6. 1. Relevant use of several analytical techniques from: SWOT, PESTLE, 5-Forces, Value Chain, BCG, Balanced Scorecard, Stakeholder Matrix, Financial Ratios, Generic Strategies, 7-S Model, etc. 2. Discussion on what these frameworks are suggesting about the current situation, performance and ability of the chosen company to compete effectively. 3. Justification of (3) possible strategies. 4. Critical evaluation and discussion of the (3) alternative strategies using relevant criteria. Highlight, select and recommend the best strategy and justify why it is the best. 5. Discuss how the selected strategy might be implemented with particular attention to some of the key issues likely to be encountered during implementation and how those issues might be overcome. 6.
