  3. Table of contents • The ENhANCE Professional Profile • The European Curriculum for Family and Community Nurse (FCN) • From the EU Curriculum to the national curricula • Greek Curriculum • Italian Curriculum • Finnish Curriculum • Key ideas behind the project • Associated OOT functionalities • Next steps • Q&A

  4. FCN professionalprofile • Thiswasdonethanks to a DelphiStudyconducted by the University of Genoa and involving 34 Europeanexperts. • The PP iscomposed of 28 Core Competencies. • Ifyouwant to take a look atit:https://www.enhance-fcn.eu/competencies/

  5. EU FCN Curriculum • This was developed starting from the PP and an extensive analysis of what it exists and the active involvement of: • employers of FCN (end users) • primary health care providers (end users) • informal carers (end users) • our internal experts. • The EU Curriculum is compliant with the EU standards (ECVET, EQAVET etc.). • It targets graduated nurses (with at least EQF6), aiming to take them towardsEQF7. • The PP is composed of 7 Units of Learning: • Needs assessment • Decision making process • Health promotion and education • Communication • Navigation as care coordinator and patient advocate • Evidencebasedresearch • Enhance and promote individual and family health including e-health to support the quality of nursing care • Ifyouwant to take a look at the complete Deliverable, you can click below:https://www.enhance-fcn.eu/it/public-deliverables-and-reports-it/

  6. Learning Outcomes • According to standards, each Unit is decomposed in Learning Outcomes, for a total of 54 LOs. Each LO is in turn described in terms of Knowledge, Skills and Personal and Transversal Competencies.

  7. Assessment Moreover, according to the indications derived from ECVET, the Curriculum includes an assessment table targeting each LO, describing methods and criteria to be used to assess it.

  8. Keycharacteristics • The EU Curriculum … • is modular, as LOs can be aggregated in different ways • is flexible, as it is composed of mandatory and optional LOs, in such a way that any country can instantiate it according to the national context. Moreover, each LO can be addressed at different level of study (basic/ advanced) and be assigned a different range of ECTS • Supports: • practice sharing and collaboration • work based learning • recognition and validation of prior formal, informal and non-formal learning.

  14. Keyideas & OOT functionality

  15. 1. Online learning & assessment • In ENhANCE we promote online learning, because its characteristics make it fitting well with FCNs’ needs, in terms of continuous professional development especially for nurses who are already working. • This means in your pilots it is recommended that YOU: • - propose online learning activities • - assess students’ performance and participation to the proposed online learning activities (both individual and collaborative) and award it even in view of the final grading.

  16. Guessit! • 1. Among the OOT functionalities, which do you think could support the “ASSESSMENT OF ONLINE LEARNING”? • A) Learning Plan • B) Group Choice • C) 4Cs dashboard and Journal • D) OOT Community • E) Forum and Database • F) Quiz and Reports

  17. Guessit! • 1. Among the features of the OOT, which one do you think could support “ASSESSMENT OF ONLINE LEARNING”? • A) Learning Plan • B) Group Choice • C) 4Cs dashboard and Journal • D) OOT Community • E) Forum and Database • F) Quiz and Reports

  18. Quiz and Reports «Quiz»-> to assess individual learning outcomes «Reports»-> to assess participation and number of contributions in collaborative activities

  19. 2. Practicesharing and collaboration • In ENhANCE we foster the use of collaborative learning activities and sustain the notions of “community of practice” and practice sharing among peers. • This means in your pilots it is recommended that YOU: • - propose collaborative learning activities, so to help your students appreciate the added value of working and sharing with others • - you trigger your students to share their experience, their opinions and points of views on the contents you are proposing.

  22. Forum and Database «Forum»-> to allow discussion and co-construction of new knowledge. «Database»-> to allow sharing of resources, materials, etc. among peers.

  23. 3. Social dimension and community building • In ENhANCE we support community building and the social dimension of FCNs’ community. • If we are able to trigger the creation of a community during the course, there are good chances that this will survive and continue growing even after the end of the course itself, and this will provide our FCNs with further occasions of professional development and learning in the future. • This means in your pilots it is recommended that YOU: • - promote the use of the social /non-formal area of the OOT, which will remain available even after the end of the course.

  24. Guessit! • 1. Among the OOT functionalities, which do you think could support “SOCIAL DIMENSION AND COMMUNITY BUILDING”? • A) Learning Plan • B) Group Choice • C) 4Cs dashboard and Journal • D) OOT Community • E) Forum and Database • F) Quiz and Reports

  27. 4. Self-regulatedlearning • In ENhANCE we promote self-regulated learning, as we think this is determinant for effective learning and for sustaining FCN’s professional development during and after the course. • This means in your pilots it is recommended that YOU: • - support self-regulated learning, by triggering students’ behaviours such as creation of new knowledge, contribution to community knowledge, connection with others’ knowledge, consuming others’ knowledge • - support students’ motivation by engaging them with gamified approaches to learning.

  31. 5. Recognition of (prior) non-formal / informallearning • In ENhANCE we want to promote the recognition of (prior) non-formal / informal learning, as very likely most of our students are already experienced nurses with some background on family and community nursing. • This means in your pilots it is recommended that YOU: • - valorise students’ (prior) non-formal / informal learning, by taking into account their expertise /knowledge and trying to make the most of it, especially in the collaborative activities (for example by using students as ‘experts’ in groups, etc.) • - award / recognize (prior) non-formal / informal learning, by allowing students to skip parts of your courses in case they can demonstrate they have got already the related competences.

  40. 7. Openness • In ENhANCE we are adopting an OPEN approach, i.e.: • Platform: we are using an OPEN online Tool (OOT), i.e. which is open source. Moreover, the registration to the Open Online Tool will be possible for anyone external to the project to join the OOT Community for FCNs. • Contents: all the teaching and learning materials that we will create during the teacher training path as teachers, and that students and teachers will create during the pilots, will be open and will be made available through MERLOT • This means in your pilots it is recommended that YOU: • - adopt and/ or produce teaching and learning materials that are open (whose access is not limited by any licence).
