  4. Children who participate in well-conceived ECD programs tend to be more successful in later school. better prepared for school and frequently stay in school longer. Working mothers need safe child care. ECD interventions in health and nutrition programs increase children's chances of survival. A healthy cognitive and emotional development in the early years translates into tangible economic returns.  Why Invest in ECD

  7. We value and support individuals and organizations that are involved in the care and education of children and strive to ensure that tools, resources and training opportunities are available to support the delivery of top quality care to children.

  8. We strive to equip parents to make sound child care choices by increasing their awareness of child care options available and having information available on making sound child care decisions.

  9. We struggle to support our communities in building a comprehensive quality child care system. Through the coordination and facilitation of community planning activities, needs are assessed and responded accordingly by parents, caregivers, educators and organizations working together.

  10. In addition, we work towards building the capacity for best practices within our child care system by leading community development initiatives and engaging in local and national research projects that enhance the range and quality of services available to families and children within our Regions.

  11. Major Achievements in ECD

  12. 3 staff members from the AKRSP’s GAD Section trained from AKU, Karachi Staff members participated in workshops on ECD in down country Staff Training

  13. Trained 6 women on ECD at Mehnaz Fatima Montessori School at Gilgit 10 women placed for six month diploma course on ECD from Islamabad Teacher’s training from the community

  14. Three ECD centers in the private sector are in process of establishment in Danyore Hunza and Boni. Dialogues and other formalities completed and soon to be started. Trained teacher, purchased equipments, furniture and ECD materials. Physical establishment of centers

Health and Hygiene awareness trainings organized for various Women Organizations (WOs) Adult literacy centers established to aware and train mothers Nutritional Improvement interventions made on fruits development, vegetable development, aforestation, home based poultry farming and Honey production etc. Infrastructure projects like drinking water supply, water channels, link roads, bridges and micro hydals also contributed in building favorable environment towards human development.   16. 350 centers are operational in collaboration with AKESP and NCHD in six districts of NAC. Around 8000 learners are currently under training in these centers with an average enrollment of 15 learners per center. More than 2000 learners already graduated from at least 100 centers. AKRSP’s Current Thinking • The new roleproposedfor AKRSP is to render following support: • Creating and fostering a second tier of formal and professional civil society organizations, or Local Support Organisations (LSOs) rooted in some 4,400 Village and Women’s Organisations (V/WOs). • Creating knowledge based products and services for implementation through LSOs. • Creating capacities and tools for LSOs and through them for V/WOS

AKRSP’s Current Thinking…......…..cont’d Multi Stakeholder Forum: It is an open forum of all stakeholders with basic objective to initiate a public deliberation on the major development issues involving divers groups and stakeholders of the area. The first Multi Stakeholder Forum was held at Hunza, second in Nagar, third in Ghizer and the fourth in Gilgit.
