Duties of a Cosmetologist • Cosmetologists, provide hair care services to enhance the appearance of consumers. • Other personal appearance workers, such as manicurists and pedicurists, shampooers, and skin care specialists provide specialized services that help clients look and feel their best.

  4. Duties of an Office Assistant • Office assistants can have a variety of different duties. There may be different levels of office assistants, ranging form entry-level to supervisor. • The level of employment usually determines the amount of responsibility and the job duties.

  5. Working Conditions of Cosmetologist • Cosmetologists put in a 40 hour week, but longer hours are common, especially among self employed workers. • Work schedules may include evenings and weekends, the times when beauty salons are busiest. • Workers, especially those who are self employed, determine their own schedules.

  6. Working conditions of a office assistant • Office assistants usually work in schools, hospitals, corporate settings, or legal and medical offices. • Their jobs involve sitting for long periods. • Also they spend a lot of time typing.

  7. Training, qualifications, and advancement opportunities of a Cosmetologist • All States require cosmetologists to be licensed. To qualify for a license, most job seekers are required to graduate from a State-licensed cosmetology school. • A high school diploma or GED is required. • Full time programs last up to 9 months or more and may lead to an associates degree, but training for manicurists, pedicurists, and skin care specialists require significantly less time. • Take courses in sales and marketing. • After graduating from a State approved training program, students take a State licensing examination. The exam consists of a writing test, practical test of styling skills, or an oral examination.

Training, Qualifications, and advancement opportunities of a office assistant • Employers usually require a high school diploma or equivalent, and some require basic computer skills, including familiarity with work processing software, and other general office skills. • Training is available through business education programs offered in high schools, community, and junior colleges, and post secondary vocational schools. • Courses in office practices, word processing, and other computer applications are particularly helpful. • Because general office clerks usually work with other office staff, they should be cooperative and able to work as part of a team.

  19. Which career do I prefer? • Cosmetology!!  • I prefer it because I really enjoy doing people hair and nails. I do my friends all the time. • Also my grandma is a Cosmetologist and id like to follow In her footsteps.
