  2. Present Tense • A verb in the present tense shows action that happens now. Tyler is swimming with girls in the Baltic Sea. IS SWIMMING is in the present tense

  3. Past Tense • A verb in the past tense shows action that has already happened. The past tense of a verb usually ends in ed. The girls ditched Tyler and went to swim with Erik and Zach in the Caspian Sea. DITCHED is in the past tense

  4. Future Tense • A verb in the future tense shows action that will happen. It is usually formed with helping verb will or shall. Erik and Zach will get lucky… while playing blackjack. WILL get lucky is in the future tense

  5. Staying Consistent • When using each of these tenses, it is important that you stay consistent throughout your whole paper. During the movie Erik stood up and drops his popcorn. This is INCORRECT. Take notice to the underlined words- STOOD is in the past tense and DROPS is in the present tense.

  6. PRACTICE!!! • The pig rolled/will roll in the mud and he will eat garbage. • The horse is killing me and it kicked Erik in the ba…………………………………………..ck. • I swung/swing the bat and I ran/run to fourth base. Sham Wow!!!?%q
