Parables of the Kingdom (90) • Parables- often use everyday events and objects to explain important truths • Kingdom of God = Kingdom of Heaven • Parables • Son of Man sows the seed, field is the world, seed become children of God, weeds are the evil ones sowed by the devil • Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed, it grows into a large bush that birds can live in • Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls, gives up everything when the pearl is found

God’s Plan for His Kingdom (91) • The church is the beginning of the Kingdom of God • The Kingdom of God will be realized at the end of time • Jesus judges how well we serve God and others and we will be separated by angel at the end of time- those who are good will enjoy everlasting happiness

  4. III. The Church, a Sign of God’s Kingdom (91) • Each person has unique talents, we are to use those talents to bring justice and mercy to all • All salvation comes from Christ

  5. IV. Blessed Damien of Molokai (92) • A Belgium priest- volunteered and served those isolated by leprosy • Molokai is one of the Hawaiian Islands • An example of living the values of God’s Kingdom- treated everyone with unconditional love

  6. V. Our Church Teaches (92) • God created the universe out of love, Jesus keeps it in existence • Created creatures as a sign of his love- everlasting covenant with Noah and his descendants to not destroy them all again • As a sign of His covenant, God revealed His Law through Moses

  7. VI. St. Elizabeth of Hungary (94) • Daughter of the King of Hungary • Very charitable and kind spirited
